Color theory and emotional effects

.) Color is powerful on our emotions. Sometimes color is so resident that we can see it in our dreams. The painting Shimmering Light mainly uses the color red. Although other colors are used in the painting, there is many different shades of red used. There is a light red, a medium red, and a bright red.  Color use to be used in a more basic way in olden times. The artists had to plan and had limitations for the use of color. They didn't get the option to make changes. Color effects our emotions because brighter colors can make us happier, while darker colors gives us a different feeling. When I see darker colors, such as black or dark blues, I think of night time. When I see yellow and orange I think of the sun and daylight. The painter showed on the video uses the phase, "keeping the painting going." She says this makes the painting seem alive and the runnier the paint, the better.

.) What most interests me about color is the invention of the metal tube. This made artists able to carry their paint with them without it drying out. This is a very useful tool for artists because they don't have to worry about their paint drying out and they are able to explore the outside and paint different objects around them. Also, when artists paint what they see. They use different colors and can change the colors as they continue to paint. Some paintings take a while to come together, for example the painting the woman was painting. It took a long process to get it how she wanted.

.) The biggest impact on my regards to color is when artists just paint what they see. I think it's interesting how people use different colors of paint to create the image they have in their head from what they are looking at. Sometimes, the picture becomes more colorful than the actual imagine they are picturing in their head. It's all about finding the right combination of colors. Colors of feeling are difficult to paint. It is a psychological thing that has many meanings.

.) Art does what history books can't do. There are different works of art that show different emotion. When looking at certain pictures, the viewer may feel a certain way. For example, there is a painting in the beginning of the video that is semi scary looking. It is of two men and the man's face is creepy looking. Religion is important in art feelings because it says human feeling is not important and God is according to the video. Most pictures shown in the video was darker pictures that use the colors of reds,  browns, and blacks. When someone thinks of religion, they don't think of bright neon colors, which is why the darker shades of colors are chose when making these types of paintings. When I see these types of paintings, I wonder how the artist came up with the idea in their head, whether they pictured it before or it just came to them.
